UP woman chops off brother-in-law's private parts for hurting sister
What's the story
A shocking incident has come to light from Prayagraj's Mauaima area, where a 20-year-old man was attacked and mutilated by his sister-in-law. The accused, identified as Manju, allegedly attacked her brother-in-law Umesh while he was sleeping on October 16. She stabbed him multiple times with a kitchen knife before severing his private parts.
Motive uncovered
Complicated family dynamics
The incident shocked the local community and left authorities puzzled at first. However, as they investigated, they discovered a complicated family dynamic. Per India Today, Umesh's elder brother, Uday, is married to Manju. Umesh had been in a close relationship with Manju's younger sister but ended the relationship due to family opposition and his interest in another woman. This rejection had a significant impact on Manju's younger sister, who, according to family members, developed depression and began isolating herself.
Sequence
Attack happened on October 16
Manju's wrath and contempt for Umesh grew as she witnessed her sister's suffering. Police believe her emotional outrage drove her to prepare a violent act of retaliation. Police said that on the night of October 16, Manju waited until everyone in the house was asleep. Around midnight, she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and went into Umesh's room. She stabbed him several times in a rapid and frantic attack before cutting off his private parts.
Medical intervention
Umesh's condition now stable
Umesh cried out for help; however, Manju had already fled by the time his family arrived. After the attack, Umesh's family rushed him to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery for over an hour and a half. His condition is now stable but will require several months of recovery time. Dr. Girish Mishra, who led the medical team treating Umesh, said that while he is out of danger, full recovery could take up to seven or eight months.
Suspect identified
Police on hunt for Manju
The police investigation initially had no leads but soon focused on Manju after discrepancies in her statements. Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Kumar Yadav said, "The investigation revealed that the sister-in-law was directly involved in the attack." Police are now on a manhunt for Manju, who has reportedly gone into hiding since the incident.
