Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Rawat condoles death of ND Tiwari
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today expressed grief at the death of Congress veteran Narayan Dutt Tiwari. Tiwari died at a private hospital in Delhi today after prolonged illness. He was 93. Rawat also remembered him as a man who made a significant contribution to the industrialization of both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during his Chief Ministership.
Tiwari dedicated his life to serving the nation: Rawat
"ND Tiwari dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation both during the country's freedom struggle and after it attained independence," Rawat said. Rawat added that Tiwari contributed significantly to the industrialization of Uttarakhand when it was still in its infancy after attaining statehood. Uttarakhand was partitioned from UP in 2000 and Tiwari was its Chief Minister from 2002-2007.
Rawat calls Tiwari a large-hearted man
"He (Tiwari) was a Union Minister and held charge of key portfolios like Finance and External affairs," Rawat said. He also described Tiwari as a large-hearted man who could rise above petty political considerations when it came to matters of public interest.
