West Bengal government employees to get 150+ holidays in 2026
If you work for the West Bengal government, 2026 is basically a year of long weekends.
Employees are set to get over 150 days off, thanks to a mix of official holidays (53 in total), plus every Saturday and Sunday—so plenty of chances to relax or travel.
Festival breaks mean extra-long time off
Durga Puja brings a massive 12-day holiday stretch from October 15-26.
November isn't far behind, offering more than 10 days of leave for Kali Puja and Chhath Puja—perfect for festival plans or just catching up on life.
Sundays and special occasions round out the calendar
Six major festivals land on Sundays next year—including Shiva Ratri and Lakshmi Puja—so no extra leave needed there.
There's also Hul Dibas on June 30 for Santhali employees.
All in all, it's one of the most generous holiday calendars around, showing just how much local culture shapes life (and leave) in West Bengal.
