West Bengal man leaves son at India-Bangladesh border amid dispute

After ongoing disputes with his wife and an attempt to leave his son with her, Pintu Ghosh left his 10-year-old son alone at the India-Bangladesh border in Basirhat, North 24 Parganas on November 4.
Locals spotted the boy and called the police, who made sure he was safe, gave him food, and helped him get back home.

What led to this incident?

Police learned that ongoing fights between the parents led to this troubling incident—Madhavi had left their son with her in-laws but refused to take him back when Pintu tried.
In frustration, Pintu abandoned the child at the border. Officers are now counseling both parents about their responsibilities.
