Widespread heavy rainfall expected in Bengal: IMD
Heads up, Bengal! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says to expect heavy to very heavy rain across the state until July 1, thanks to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
South Bengal districts like North 24 Parganas, Purulia, East and West Bardhaman, Jhargram, Bankura, and Hooghly are all on alert for some serious downpours.
Fisherfolk have been asked to stay off the sea
This isn't just about getting wet—IMD has flagged June 29 and 30 for especially intense rain in places like South 24 Parganas and East/West Midnapore.
Northern areas including Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri will also see heavy showers.
Strong winds (up to 55km/h!) are expected and could disrupt travel.
