Mariani graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She received Justin through the non-profit organization Canine Companions for Independence on Long Island. Six-year-old Justin has never let her side since then. Justin had attended all of Mariani's classes with her. According to the University, Mariani further wishes to teach elementary and special education.
