'Powerhouse...': PM Modi hails 10-years of 'Make in India'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the decade-long success of the "Make in India" initiative. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), he wrote, "Today, we mark #10YearsOfMakeInIndia. I compliment all those who are tirelessly working to make this movement a success over the last decade." "'Make in India' illustrates the collective resolve of 140 crore Indians to make our nation a powerhouse of manufacturing and innovation," he added.
PM Modi highlights economic impact of 'Make in India'
The prime minister also highlighted the significant economic impact of the initiative. He noted how exports have increased across various sectors, capacities have been built, and the economy has been strengthened as a result. "The Government of India is committed to encouraging 'Make in India' through all possible ways. India's strides in reforms will also continue," he said.
Goyal optimistic about future of 'Make in India'
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal also expressed optimism about the future of the "Make in India" initiative. In an interview with news agency PTI, he said that the movement has "helped promote both domestic and foreign investment in India." He added, "We have achieved great success, and a brilliant future is ahead for manufacturing in the country as the 'Make in India' program is celebrating its 10 years."
'Make in India' initiative
The "Make in India" initiative was launched on September 25, 2014. It aimed to facilitate investment, foster innovation, build world-class infrastructure, and make India a hub for manufacturing, design, and innovation. Goyal added that the program's unique "Vocal for Local" initiatives promoted India's manufacturing domain to the world.
