The increase in BJP's support base reflected public anger against dynastic politics, PM Narendra Modi said, while addressing BJP workers at party headquarters.
He further said, "I had told the people of Gujarat that this time Narendra's record should be broken. I promised that Narendra will work hard so that Bhupendra can break Narendra's record. Gujarat has broken all records by giving the biggest mandate to BJP in the history of Gujarat."
Congress defeated the BJP by marking victory on 40 seats. The BJP won 25 seats.
Three seats were clinched by independent candidates.
The BJP gained 43% of the total vote share, while the Congress secured 43.9%.
The AAP bagged 1.1% of the total votes, followed by CPI(M) 0.66%, and CPI 0.01%.
As many as 0.59% of the total votes were for NOTA and 10.39% went to other candidates.
The BJP has emerged victorious on 148 seats and is merely one seat away from breaking the record set by Congress.
It is still leading on eight seats while Congress is leading on one seat.
Congress has bagged 16 seats while three independent candidates have clinched victory.
As per ECI data, the Congress won 39 seats and is leading in a constituency, establishing the party's victory in the state Assembly elections.
The BJP won 19 seats and is leading on six seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the people of Gujarat for the BJP's historic win.
He said, "People blessed the politics of development," and hailed Gujarat's Jan Shakti, or the power of citizens.
Despite the AAP being restricted to five seats, the party's national convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said the party managed to successfully breach BJP's fort.
He thanked the people of Gujarat for helping make AAP a national party.
The BJP retained power by winning an unprecedented number of seats.
SP leader and sitting MP Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav won the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, as per Election Commission of India's (ECI) data.
The SP received 64.08% votes, BJP 34.18% votes, and 0.64% votes went to NOTA.
BJP candidate and cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife, Rivaba Jadeja won the Jamnagar constituency with a margin of over 50,000 votes.

Congress candidate from Gandhidham, Bharatbhai Veljibhai Solanki tied a noose around his neck alleging attempts of EVM tampering during the counting of votes.
Solanki is currently trailing behind BJP's Malti Kishor Maheshwari by over 12,000 votes as he claimed that some EVMs weren't properly sealed.
Set to break all records in Gujarat, the BJP is likely to form the government and take an oath on Sunday or Monday.
BJP candidate Kanaiyalal Bachubhai Kishori has defeated Harshadbhai Valchandbhai Ninama of Congress in Dahod by 29,350 votes.

Meanwhile, the BJP is leading on 26 seats which are Jaswan-Pragpur, Jhanduta, Jogindernagar, Kangra, Karsog, Nurpur, Pachhad, Paonta Sahib, Sullah, and Una.
BJP registered its first win in Himachal Pradesh with state general secretary Rakesh Jamwal winning from Sundernagar by 8,125 votes.
