BJP's campaign: Launches NaMo TV ahead of Lok Sabha polls

What's the story

Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Bharatiya Janata Party has recently launched NaMo TV channel, which will be available on all the major DTH platforms. It is launched as a part of BJP's election crusade. It will run real-time coverage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election campaign and will also air a compilation of his speeches. BJP, PM tweeted about the launch of the channel

Both BJP and Modi tweeted about the launch. BJP tweeted, "Capture the colors of elections. Watch the dance of democracy. Say NaMo again with NaMo TV." PM, while joining #Maibhichowkidar program, said on Twitter, "At 5 PM, lakhs of Chowkidars from different parts of India will interact in the historic #MainBhiChowkidar program. Watch it live on the NaMoApp or NaMo TV."

Channel will run advertisements of BJP's policies, schemes

Apart from running the live coverage of PM Modi's rallies, NaMo TV channel will also air other content related to him, like, a compilation of his speeches before the Lok Sabha ELections. A scroll containing parts of his speeches will run at the bottom of the channel. Also, advertisements of various schemes and policies launched during the BJP tenure, 2014-2019, will be broadcast.

Modi tried to launch NaMo channel in Gujarat in 2012

Apart from the channel, which has PM Modi's picture on its logo, Modi also has NaMo app, launched in 2015, which provides direct updates from the PM. Earlier in 2012, the then CM Modi tried to launch NaMo channel in Gujarat before the Assembly polls and had launched Vande Gujarat during 2007 elections. However, the Election Commission had banned both after they received complaints.
