What's the story

The former husband of Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, Naveen Jaihind, on Wednesday, called for an FIR to be lodged against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This comes a day after the AAP admitted that Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, "misbehaved" with Maliwal at the CM's house on Monday. "An FIR should be lodged against Arvind Kejriwal, as the incident happened at his home," Jaihind told news agency ANI.

No complaint filed

Received 2 calls alleging Maliwal assaulted: Delhi Police

To recall, on Monday, Delhi Police said it received two distress calls from Kejriwal's residence that Maliwal had been assaulted there. The callers claimed that Kejriwal's aide Kumar prevented the former Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson from meeting with the CM—who is out on bail—at his residence and allegedly harassed her. Separately, Maliwal visited the Civil Lines Police Station following the alleged incident but left without lodging any complaint. The reason for her decision remains unclear.

'Danger' to Maliwal's life: Ex-husband

Calling the CM's residence a "gutter house," the former chief of the AAP's state unit in Haryana again alleged "danger" to Maliwal's life. "She was threatened; otherwise, nobody would call up the police or return from the police station. She is still being silenced," he claimed. Naveen also questioned the "silence" of the Union Home Ministry, Delhi and the National Commission for Women (NCW). The Delhi Police reports to the Union home ministry.
