Airtel begins migrating FWA users to dual-mode 5G

Technology

Airtel has started migrating its fixed wireless access (FWA) customers to a dual-mode 5G network, and currently, 13 circles in India have dual-mode 5G available for subscribers.
Announced by MD Gopal Vittal during the Q2 2025 earnings call, this upgrade means faster, more reliable internet for users.
Pilot runs are already happening, and wider rollout is coming soon to keep up with growing demand.

Dual-mode tech blends NSA and SA styles

Dual-mode 5G blends two tech styles: NSA (which builds on existing 4G) and SA (which uses all-new gear).
This combo boosts both speed and stability for everyday use.
The move also ties into Airtel's partnerships with Ericsson and Volvo Group, aiming to bring cool tech like XR and AI into Indian manufacturing—so it's not just about faster streaming, but powering future innovations too.
