Amazon blocks ChatGPT from using its marketplace data
Technology
Amazon just stopped OpenAI's new Shopping Research tool from pulling info from its site.
That means ChatGPT can't access Amazon's huge product catalog to suggest deals or products—especially during big sales like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Why did Amazon do this?
Amazon updated its robots.txt file to block OpenAI's bots, aiming to keep control over its marketplace data and prevent outside AI tools from steering shoppers elsewhere.
While ChatGPT can still pull info from other public sites, you'll need to check Amazon directly for the latest listings or prices.
