Apple to refresh devices that are long overdue for update
What's the story
Apple is rumored to be working on updates for four of its products that don't get new versions very often. The devices include the Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, AirTag 2, which are expected to launch within the next few weeks, followed by a new Studio Display in early 2025. These updates come after the recent launch of three M5-equipped devices: iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro.
Update timeline
Apple TV 4K was updated three years ago
The upcoming products have been long overdue for a hardware revision. The Apple TV 4K was last updated three years ago, while the HomePod mini hasn't seen an update in five years. The AirTag 2 is also due for an update after four and a half years, and the Studio Display hasn't been refreshed in three and a half years.

Annual updates for popular products
Unlike the long gaps between updates for these four products, Apple usually updates its more popular products, such as iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, every year. These revisions can be major upgrades or minor releases, like the new M5 products. However, it's rare to see a gap of more than a year or 18 months between updates for these popular devices.
