Work has become easier for podcasters
iPad OS now offers controls for selecting specific microphones during audio recording, and an audio isolation feature. A Local Capture facility for podcasters is also available.
Better UI for iPadOS 26
iPadOS 26 carries over the improvements from iOS 26 (Messages and other apps). Users get a new windowing system for multitasking. Flicking the windows toward the edge lets you tile them, while tapping 'Expose' shows all the open windows.
Widgets now available in visionOS
Apple's visionOS 26 is getting widgets, and they stay right where you place them. Frame width, color and depth of the widgets can be customized. To note, a developer tool will allow app makers to make their own widgets.
Live Activity is here
Live Activity support is now available on Mac, with activities that start on iPhones, also available on your PC. Clicking on the Live Activity on your Mac will launch a mirrored version of your handset.
What's new in macOS Tahoe?
Apple's macOS 26 is here and its moniker is 'Tahoe.' You get a new design with sidebars for depth, and a transparent Menu bar. Users can change colors of folders and add icons/emojis to them.
Use your iPhone for karaoke sessions
Apple has given tvOS 26 an interface update. Tap on 'Profiles' to set up a profile for everyone in the home. Meanwhile, Apple Music in tvOS lets you use iPhones as microphones for your karaoke sessions.
watchOS 26 is here
WatchOS 26, Apple's new OS for smartwatches has been announced. It gets a new look thanks to Liquid Glass, AI integration for Workout Buddy, a generative voice facility that offers encouraging words, and a new wrist flick gesture.
Searching screenshots now possible
You can now search screenshots in iOS 26. Apple gave the example of a pic of a woman wearing a jacket on social media. You can tap the image to find similar jackets on sale.
A boost for gaming
iOS 26 is getting a new Games app. Here, you can see all games ever downloaded from the App Store, and launch them straight from the app. You can use the Friends tab to challenge your friends, and compare scores with them.
Welcome to live translations
Apple Intelligence will now support live translation across phone calls, FaceTime sessions and more. Lyric translation will also be offered on Apple Music.
What about Apple Message?
You can now add backgrounds to chats in Apple Messages. Meanwhile, group chats get a poll as well as send cash feature in order to send/receive payments.
Changes to the Phone app
Apple Intelligence now offers you summaries of voice mail. There's also a Call Screening feature inspired by Google's Call Assist.
Here, the call is answered in the background, then you learn the caller's identity, and finally you decide whether to answer it.
CarPlay is better than ever
Apple CarPlay is also getting a new look. It now comes with support for Live Activities.
An improved Camera app
The Camera app now has more streamlined menus. Simply slide up, when you want more menu controls at your disposal. As for the Photos app, there's a 3D effect and the return of some tab controls.
iOS 26 in, iOS 19 out
Now, the version number of all Apple software will be the same as the year they will carry you through. For example, this year's iPhone update is called iOS 26 since you will use it through next year.
Liquid Glass is here
Apple is now moving toward a universal design inspired by visionOS, across all its software. Its name is 'Liquid Glass' and it comes with translucent menus that react to your touch and perspective of the display.
Foundation Models framework announced
The Foundation Models framework will allow Apple's developers to directly access the LLMs Apple is using. The idea is that they will add new AI features to apps.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has taken to the stage to start the keynote address. He thanked developers at Apple for making the company's projects a reality.
Update to Genmojis
Apple's AI-backed emoji generating tool might get an update. Users will now be able to make new Genmoji by combining two existing emojis.
