ChatGPT loses ground to rivals in AI chatbot market

Technology

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, just took a big hit—its chatbot market share dropped from 75% in October to 61% in November 2025.
Even though it's still leading the pack, this sharp decline shows that competition is getting real as more players jump into the AI chatbot scene.

Copilot, Gemini are the closest competitors

Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini are quickly gaining ground, now holding 14.1% and 13.4% of the market.
Both saw strong growth last quarter—Copilot up by 6%, Gemini by 8%.
Up-and-comers like Perplexity and Claude AI are also growing fast, making it clear that OpenAI isn't the only name to watch anymore.
