     M. Williams pleads for legalisation of medicinal marijuana

    TV personality Montel Williams came out in the support of legalisation of medicinal marijuana in Pennsylvania, by sharing his thoughts in an op-ed column. Williams who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis gave credit to medicinal marijuana for helping him deal with the condition. Williams will be in Harrisburg next to urge lawmakers to legalize medical marijuana.

    What is medical marijuana?

    Medical marijuana is prescribed by doctors to treat muscle spasms caused by multiple sclerosis and nausea from cancer or HIV. However it also causes memory loss, anxiety and psychosis.

    Medicinal marijuana becomes a giant startup opportunity

    According to the Factbook publisher Cannabusiness Media, $1.6-1.9 billion of legal pot is sold for medical use in the U.S., which can easily become a towering startup market. There have been talks about making it federally legal (which will make it legal everywhere), which will increase the demand for it and open up huge markets for medicinal marijuana.

    Sidecar goes delivering medicinal pot

    Sidecar, the cab service much like Uber, launched its service which would home deliver medicinal marijuana in San Francisco. Amongst other things, it guaranteed delivery in an hour and the delivery would be limited to 1 ounce per person. However Sidecar was not the first in this venture; Uber had partnered with a Colorado marijuana shop in August 2014.

    Venture Capital firms have faith in marijuana too

    Eaze, the medicinal marijuana delivery startup, received $10 million funding from venture capital firms, including Snoop Dogg's fund Casa Verde ventures.

    New York market luring marijuana providers

    In 2014, New York became the 23rd state in USA to legalise medicinal marijuana and since then at least 350 groups have applied to become marijuana providers. The ones selected by the Health Department will be allowed to provide the drug in pill, oil or vapor form to patients. It is estimated to become a $1.2 billion industry in New York State by 2020.

    Medicinal marijuana finally legal in California

    While New York is the 23rd state to legalise marijuana, on 5 November 1996 California became the first state to legalise the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

    Medical marijuana centers in North Hampshire

    Prime Alternative Treatment Centers of New Hampshire, Temescal Wellness, Inc. and Sanctuary ATC were approved as treatment centers by the Department of Health and Human Services. The 3 companies will operate 4 medical marijuana dispensaries throughout North Hampshire. The centers will start the process of getting local approvals which might take upto 8-9 months for them to start operating.
