DuckDuckGo enhances security with new scam blocker

DuckDuckGo is rolling out a new security upgrade called Scam Blocker for iOS and Mac browsers.
Now, it shields you from a wider range of online scams—think fake shopping sites, sketchy crypto platforms, scammy surveys, and those annoying scareware pop-ups.
If you stumble onto something shady, the tool blocks the site and gives you a heads-up right away.

TL;DR

Blocks fake investment sites, scareware pop-ups, and more

The latest update adds protection against bogus investment sites, counterfeit crypto exchanges, discount pharmacy scams, and sneaky surveys trying to steal your info or cash.
It also stops scareware that fakes virus alerts to push useless antivirus or tech support.
All this joins existing blocks on phishing sites and malware ads—and it works anonymously without sharing your data.

Unlike competitors, DuckDuckGo doesn't share your data

Scam Blocker quietly updates its threat list and checks websites on your device before they load—no need to send your browsing info anywhere.
If something's risky, you'll see a clear warning.
Unlike some competitors that tap into Google's data-sharing Safe Browsing, DuckDuckGo keeps things private while catching more scams.
You get these protections in the DuckDuckGo browser now or across other browsers with their Privacy Pro subscription (which also throws in VPN and email privacy).
