Chrome now autofills your name, email address from Google account
What's the story
Google has announced a series of enhancements for the autofill feature on both mobile and desktop versions of Chrome. The updates will allow the feature to access more information from services like Google Wallet. They will also make it easier for users to select the right information when filling out forms with multiple suggestions.
Enhanced access
Autofill now accesses more personal information
The autofill feature can now pull your name, email address, and saved work/home addresses from your Google Account. This is available on desktop as well as iOS and Android versions of Chrome. The move is aimed at making the process of filling out forms faster and more efficient by automatically entering these details where required.
User experience
Chrome for Android gets improved autofill suggestions
On Android, Google is improving the autofill suggestions that show up above the onscreen keyboard. The updates will make these suggestions less condensed and easier to differentiate. Now, they will show two lines of information, giving more context for choosing the right one. For instance, if there are two contacts with the same name, their addresses will be displayed to help you pick correctly.
Global support
Chrome's autofill now supports international addresses
Google is also improving Chrome's autofill to handle international addresses, including the Mexican descriptions that often mention two cross-streets. The feature will support "phonetic names in Japan," which will be added later. This global support is aimed at making the autofill feature more versatile and useful for users around the world.
