Google might soon charge less for Android apps

Technology

Google and Epic Games just proposed a global deal that could shake up the way Android apps are bought and sold.
If the court gives a green light, Google's Play Store fees could drop from up to 30% to just 9% for most transactions, and 20% for certain in-app purchases—making life a lot easier (and cheaper) for developers everywhere.

The settlement also includes the requirement for Google to allow

The settlement would force Google to allow third-party app stores worldwide through 2032, not just in the US.
This means more choices for users and developers, plus no more exclusivity deals tying apps or devices only to Google's store.

If the deal gets approved, it could mean a lot

If approved, this deal could allow developers to offer cheaper apps, boost competition, and give everyone—from indie devs to everyday users—more freedom on their Android devices.
After years of legal drama between these tech giants, things might finally get fairer (and a bit more exciting) in the app world.
