Google's Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash lets you generate longer videos
What's the story
Google has launched an upgraded version of its video creation model, the Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash. The new model can generate longer videos, up to 15 seconds long, a significant improvement from the previous version (Omni 1.1)'s 10-second limit. The update also brings enhanced editing features and lower generation costs, making it more accessible for users looking to create high-quality AI-generated content.
Features
It is available through Gemini API
The Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash model is available through the Gemini API and Google Cloud's enterprise platform.
It can also be integrated into other consumer and business products such as the Gemini app, Flow, Google Vids, and Google Ads.
The new model supports video lengths between three to 15 seconds with one-second interval adjustments for more precise control over video duration.
Improvements
Reference-based generation support for businesses
Google has also improved the Omni models to support reference-based generation using character images, product photos, short motion clips of up to three seconds, and audio cues.
This is especially useful for businesses creating product ads and promotional content.
As for pricing, Google has slashed costs by 30% with the Omni 1.1 Flash model. Now, generating a 720p video costs $0.07 per second or $1.05 for a full-length 15-second clip at that rate.
AI advancements
Other improvements in the new model
The new AI model also boasts improved speech generation, better lip-syncing, and multi-speaker dialogue capabilities.
It aims to create more natural conversations, making it ideal for explainers or videos with multiple characters.
Google has also confirmed that the video generation model comes with an imperceptible SynthID watermark, technology used to detect whether a video was generated using AI.
