Google's Gemini on Android now identifies songs
Google's Gemini AI assistant has a new trick: it can identify songs playing around you on Android devices.
Just say, "What song is this?" and Gemini listens—whether it's music from a speaker or you humming the tune.
It's a handy comeback for a feature many missed after it was initially absent in Gemini.
How to use Gemini's song ID
To use the feature, open Gemini on your Android and say, "What song is this?"
You'll see a full-screen listening mode with a cool pulsating sphere as Gemini tries to match the audio.
Results pop up in the Google app. The rollout is still in progress and, for now, it's Android-only.
Gemini vs Now Playing
Gemini's song ID works online and feels fresh, but Pixel phones have Now Playing—which recognizes songs offline and shows results right on your lock screen without needing internet.
So while Gemini brings back some fun for all Android users, Pixel owners still get the smoothest experience.
