The Great Pyramid of Giza, a 4,500-year-old structure, could hold a secret code that reveals its true purpose. Independent researcher Sefy Levy has proposed this theory in a paper published on SSRN. He argues that the proportions of the pyramid contain a hidden numeric system, much like an Egyptological "Da Vinci Code." These hidden hieroglyphics are said to be embedded in the height, base, sloping sides and overall shape of the pyramid.

Levy's theory suggests that the dimensions of the Great Pyramid correspond with the Moon, calendar, and planetary cycles.
He discovered these patterns by dividing key measurements of the pyramid using fractions used by ancient Egyptian scribes.
The results closely matched important numbers in mathematics and astronomy.
For instance, one result was 27.5, close to the 27.55-day interval between successive lunar perigees when the Moon is closest to Earth.

Test with computer-generated models
Levy also found that the dimensions of the Great Pyramid correspond with pi and phi (the golden ratio).
To test whether these patterns were mere coincidences, he compared them with 100,000 computer-generated models of Old Kingdom-style pyramids with different dimensions.
He found that 2,419, or just 2.4% of the measurements, matched similar patterns in math and astronomy, suggesting a deliberate design behind the Great Pyramid's dimensions.

Pyramid was built as a tribute to Benben, says researcher
Levy proposes that the Great Pyramid was not built in honor of Pharaoh Khufu, but as a monument to Benben. In Heliopolitan mythology, Benben is the primordial mound where creation began.
Levy believes this fictional location corresponds with the Eye of the Sahara, a moatlike formation in Mauritania.
He theorizes that when this area dried up during a drought, its inhabitants migrated to the Nile and built pyramids as tributes to their ancestral land.
