    What's the story

Huawei-owned Honor brand has launched a budget laptop called Honor MagicBook in China.

The MagicBook, heavily inspired by the Apple MacBook Pro laptops, packs pretty impressive internals.

The notebook starts at CNY 4,999 or Rs. 52,600 (for Core i5 model) and will come in three colors - Glacier Silver, Star Grey, and Nebula Violet.

    Here's our roundup.

    Specifications

Honor MagicBook sports a 14-inch full-HD display with thin bezels

The Honor MagicBook features a 14-inch full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) display with 5.2mm thin bezels and 81% screen-to-body ratio.

The display covers 45% of the NTSC color gamut and offers 800:1 contrast with 250 nits of brightness.

The MagicBook is powered by 8th-gen Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors coupled with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics.

    All-day battery life

Honor claims the notebook will offer 12-hours of usage time

The notebook has a 57.4Wh battery which is rated to provide 12-hours of use.

Moreover, Honor claims the notebook can charge from 0 percent to 70 percent within an hour via its proprietary USB Type-C cable.

Further, Honor has also developed a 'flame-designed groove' which, with the help of large fans, creates a "canyon-effect" to expel heat away from the processor.

    Do you know?

MagicBook comes with a fingerprint sensor as well

MagicBook offers a fingerprint sensor which can unlock the laptop in 0.9s (claims Huawei) and also doubles up as a power button. The notebook runs on Windows 10. Additionally, with Magic Link app, you can also transfer files between MagicBook and a Huawei smartphone.

    Light and durable

The notebook has an aluminum body and weights 1.47 kgs

In terms of dimensions and build quality, the notebook has an aluminum body, measures 323x221x15.8mm and weighs 1.47 kgs.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the notebook offers USB Type-C port for charging, USB Type-A 3.0 and USB Type-A 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Notably, the Honor MagicBook also packs 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos and dual mics.

    Data

MagicBook starts at about Rs. 52,600

MagicBook with Core i5 model comes at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 52,600) while the Core i7 processor is priced at CNY 5,699 (roughly Rs. 60,000). It should be noted that these prices are valid for China.

    Price is a factor

Huawei looks to take on Apple in the laptop game

Apple may also introduce a cheaper MacBook Pro and when it does, it will have a competition to face - Huawei's Honor MagicBook.

The Huawei notebook packs impressive internals, offers 12-hours of battery life and in no way looks different from the MacBook Pro laptops.

Interestingly, specifications wise, Huawei's laptop is more powerful than an entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro while being significantly cheaper.
