ISRO's LVM3 rocket just launched a record-breaking satellite for global mobile internet

Technology

ISRO pulled off another big win by launching the BlueBird Block-2 satellite into low Earth orbit using its powerful LVM3-M6 rocket.
Teaming up with US-based AST SpaceMobile, this mission is all about building a space network that could let people use 4G and 5G on their phones—pretty much anywhere in the world.

Heaviest payload ever, and more engineering flex

This launch set a new record for LVM3 launches from Indian soil, with the BlueBird Block-2 tipping the scales at 6,100kg—the heaviest payload for LVM3 to low Earth orbit so far.
The LVM3 rocket (also called GSLV-MkIII) has already been used for missions like Chandrayaan-2 and 3, showing off some serious homegrown engineering.
This latest success further expands AST SpaceMobile's ongoing effort to build the world's first space-based cellular broadband network.
