ISRO's LVM3 set to launch BlueBird-6, a game-changing internet satellite
ISRO is teaming up with US company AST SpaceMobile to launch the BlueBird-6 satellite on December 21, 2025.
Taking off from Sriharikota, this mission will send the heaviest American commercial payload yet into low-Earth orbit—aiming to boost direct-to-device cellular broadband pretty much everywhere.
Why BlueBird-6 matters:
BlueBird-6 packs a huge 2,400 sq ft antenna (the biggest ever for a commercial satellite in low-Earth orbit) and delivers 10 times more bandwidth than earlier models.
With over 2,000 coverage cells and speeds up to 120Mbps, it's built to bring fast voice, data, and video services—even to rural areas in Asia, Africa, and North America that usually get left out.
The bigger picture:
By connecting places without much ground infrastructure, BlueBird-6 could help shrink the digital divide.
ISRO's LVM3 rocket is handling the heavy lifting for this ambitious tech leap.
