Microsoft’s Windows and Surface Event: Key announcements
Microsoft Surface Ultra launched
Aimed at creators and developers, Microsoft has unveiled the flagship Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by NVIDIA’s high-performance RTX Spark processor and up to 128GB of unified memory. The new device delivers 2.5 times the thermal capacity of previous Surface notebooks and introduces a unique USB-C Magnetic Connect charging adapter. Surface Laptop Ultra is available today for preorder starting at $2,599.
Windows and Copilot updates
Starting this fall, Windows 11 will integrate Copilot directly into the Taskbar search bar, enabling users to execute thousands of quick system actions and query AI without leaving their workflow. Moving beyond basic web lookup, the upgraded assistant will gain direct local file access, system-level automation controls, and the ability to run on-device small language models.
How Windows is securing agents
Microsoft is positioning Windows 11 as the most secure foundation for autonomous AI agents, equipping enterprise administrators with tools to detect malicious behavior and receive instant alerts. The platform enables organizations to track active agents, isolate their runtime environments, and mandate broad compliance policies to prevent unauthorized access.
Microsoft Execution Containers
Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) have officially reached general availability in Windows 11, announced Pavan Davuluri, head of Windows and Devices, during the company’s hardware keynote. Developers can begin integrating AI agents with MXC starting today.
About RTX Spark
NVIDIA’s RTX Spark chip, first shown at Computex 2026, shares near-identical architecture with the DGX Spark’s GB10 processor, boasting 20 CPU cores, 6,144 GPU cores, and 128GB of LPDDR5X memory. NVIDIA is also preparing lower-tier variants, with memory capacities starting as low as 16GB.
Spotlight on Surface Ultra
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is slated to open the keynote, where the company is widely expected to reveal the release date for the Surface Laptop Ultra. First previewed at Computex earlier this year, the flagship 15-inch machine is powered by NVIDIA’s flagship RTX Spark silicon.
How to watch the event
The keynote will stream live on YouTube beginning at 10am PT / 10:30pm IST. Headlining speakers are expected to include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Windows chief Pavan Davuluri, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
Microsoft's Windows and Surface event
Microsoft is hosting its first laptop-focused showcase in over two years, framing the Windows and Surface event as an exploration of how on-device AI will define the PC's next era. The hardware pivot directly aligns with the tech giant’s broader campaign to weave Copilot capabilities across its entire product lineup.
