Nokia 2.2, the cheapest Android-One phone, now available in India

Nokia 2.2, the recently launched budget-range smartphone by HMD Global, is now available in India via Flipkart and Nokia's online store. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the smartphone comes with a 5.71-inch HD+ display, a 13MP rear camera, a 3,000mAh battery, and is touted to be the cheapest Android One phone in the world. Here are the details.

Pricing
First, a look at the pricing and offers

Nokia 2.2 starts at Rs. 6,999 for its base model with 2GB/16GB configuration, while the 3GB/32GB storage variant is available at Rs. 7,999. Notably, these are introductory prices which are valid till June 30. After that, the 2GB/16GB variant and 3GB/32GB model will cost Rs. 7,699 and Rs. 8,699, respectively. Further, Reliance Jio customers can get Rs. 2,200 cashback and 100GB of additional data.

Design and display
Meanwhile, here's recalling Nokia 2.2

To recall, the Nokia 2.2 looks identical to Nokia 4.2 and 3.2 with a U-shaped notched display and a dedicated Google Assistant button. However, instead of a glass body, it sports a glossy polycarbonate chassis. Further, the phone features a 5.71-inch HD+ screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Also, it lacks a fingerprint sensor and relies on face unlock or passcode/pattern for device unlocking.

Camera
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers

On the rear, the Nokia 2.2 offers a single 13MP autofocus camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a mono LED flash unit. The camera comes loaded with a bunch of photography features including HDR, Panorama, Low Light enhancement, Time Lapse, Beautification as well as Google Lens integration. Up front, the phone offers a 5MP selfie snapper.

Internals
Under the hood

The Nokia 2.2 is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset, paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM, and 16GB/32GB of internal storage (expandable upto 400GB). The phone also runs stock Android Pie as part of Google's Android One program which guarantees firmware updates for two years and monthly security patches for three years. Under the hood, it houses a 3,000mAh battery with 5W charging support.

Features
Other highlights of Nokia 2.2

Thanks to the Android One program, Nokia 2.2 will also be one of the most affordable phones to get Android Q. However, the update will possibly arrive sometime in 2020. Other highlights of the phone include an Always-On display feature, support for dual-SIMs, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 4.2, as well as a headphone jack.
