    What's the story

    As the global version of Nokia X7, HMD Global has finally launched the Nokia 8.1 in India today.

    The key highlights of the phone are its full-HD+ HDR display, 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, dual rear-camera with ZEISS optics and Android One support.

    Notably, Nokia 8.1 can be pre-booked starting today via Nokia India e-store and several other retailers.

    Pricing and availability

    In India, the Nokia 8.1 is priced at Rs. 26,999 for the solo 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant and will be offered in Blue/Silver and Iron/Steel color options.

    In terms of availability, the phone will go on sale starting December 21 via Nokia India e-store, Amazon and several retailers such as Reliance Digital, Croma, Sangeetha, Big, and MyG.

    Nokia 8.1: Launch offers

    Airtel's prepaid user will get upto 1TB of 4G data (plans starting Rs. 199) whereas postpaid customers will get upto 120GB of additional data, a 3-month Netflix subscription, and 1-year Amazon Prime subscription (plans starting Rs. 499).

    Further, Amazon is offering a 6-month screen replacement offer whereas those buying the phone offline will get 10% cashback from HDFC Bank on credit/debit card EMI transactions.

    Nokia 8.1: At a glance

    Made out of 6000-Series aluminum, the phone sports a notched display with a slim yet prominent bottom bezel to offer an 81.5% screen-to-body ratio.

    On the back, the glass casing houses a dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner.

    Further, Nokia 8.1 sports a 6.18-inch (1080x2246 pixels) full-HD+ display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support, and 500 nits peak brightness.

    On the back, Nokia 8.1 sports a ZEISS optics-based dual camera setup comprising a 12MP (f/1.8) primary sensor with 1.4-micron pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and OIS, paired with a 13MP secondary sensor with fixed focus.

    Up front, the phone gets a single 20MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 4-in-1 pixel binning technology for better low-light photography, fixed focus, and AI-powered image enhancing features.

    The Nokia 8.1 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable upto 400GB).

    Further, the phone packs a 3,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and runs stock Android Pie as part of Android One program which promises at least two years of software updates.

    In terms of connectivity options, the phone supports dual-SIM cards, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi802.11a/c, VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard Nokia 8.1 include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor and gyroscope.
