OpenAI plans to integrate Sora video generator into ChatGPT

OpenAI, the leading artificial intelligence (AI) research lab has announced plans to integrate Sora, its AI video generation tool, into the popular consumer chatbot app ChatGPT. The announcement came during a recent office hours session on Discord. As of now, Sora is only available through a dedicated web app launched by OpenAI in December that lets users generate cinematic clips of up to 20 seconds using the AI video model of the same name.

Rohan Sahai, OpenAI's product lead for Sora, disclosed the company's plans to broaden the reach and capabilities of Sora. Sahai confirmed that work is in progress to integrate Sora into ChatGPT, though he didn't give a specific timeline for the same.

Sahai explained that they decided to launch Sora as a separate web app to keep ChatGPT simple. Sahai also expressed interest in developing a standalone mobile app for Sora and confirmed that they are actively recruiting mobile engineers for the same.

Sahai also revealed that OpenAI is working on a new version of Sora Turbo, the model powering the Sora web app.
