  • Samsung's Galaxy S11 is not only getting a significant design makeover but also a major camera upgrade.

A teardown of the camera app available in the latest beta version of One UI 2.0 suggests Samsung is bringing 8K video recording capabilities to the upcoming flagship phone.

Additionally, the app has also reiterated the presence of a 108MP camera sensor on the Galaxy S10 successor.

  • According to some code references found in the camera app of the latest One UI 2.0 beta that is being rolled out for the Galaxy S10, the forthcoming Galaxy S11 will feature a 108MP primary camera sensor and support 8K video recording.

The high-resolution 108MP Quad Bayer sensor will reportedly be used to enable ultra hi-definition video recording on the flagship smartphone.

  • To enable 8K video recording, we not only need a compatible camera sensor but also capable chipsets that can support such formats.

On that front, the Exynos 990 chipset, which will most certainly power the international models of the Galaxy S11, supports encoding and decoding of 8K UHD video at 30 fps.

Separately, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 is also likely to support 8K recording support.

Galaxy S11 will offer dedicated video modes as well

  • Samsung is also working on several new photography and videography modes and we expect them to debut on the S11 sometime early next year.

The company is working on a new Director's View mode which will let you record from multiple cameras at the same time, a dedicated Night Hyperlapse mode, a new Single Take Photo mode, Vertical Panorama mode, and several custom filters.

  • Information

When will Galaxy S11 series launch?

  • According to leaks, Samsung will follow the traditional launch cycle for its S11 series, and we can see the new handsets sometime around mid-February. To recall, the Galaxy S10 series was announced on February 20.
