Smart glasses developed to block real-life advertising

Ever wished you could just tune out all those billboards and product ads in real life?
Software engineer Stijn Spanhove has made smart glasses that do exactly that.
Using Snapchat Spectacles and Google's Gemini AI, these glasses spot ads in your view—like on billboards or labels—and cover them up with a red rectangle.
There's still a bit of lag, but it's a cool step toward blocking unwanted ads beyond just your phone or laptop.

TL;DR

What's next?

Spanhove isn't stopping here—he wants users to swap out the red blocks for images they actually like.
This idea builds on older attempts at filtering real-world ads, but this version is sleeker and more practical.
With smart glasses already helping with things like live language translation, this tech could mean even more control over what you see every day.
