SpaceX is about to launch its 10,000th Starlink satellite
On October 18, 2025, SpaceX will hit a huge milestone—launching its 10,000th Starlink satellite from California.
This mission adds another 28 satellites to the network and pushes the total number in orbit past the big five-digit mark.
It's part of a steady launch streak that's kept Starlink growing at record speed.
From 2 satellites to over 10,000
Starlink started with just two test satellites back in 2018. Now it's a global internet provider with millions of users and more than 8,600 active satellites (most of the rest were deorbited, guided down to burn up in Earth's atmosphere).
SpaceX has already launched more missions this year than in all of 2024—and they're aiming for even bigger numbers ahead.
How to watch the launch live
The Falcon 9 rocket will land (again!) on the "Of Course I Still Love You" drone ship after takeoff—a nod to SpaceX's reusable tech.

This launch is another big leap for one of the world's largest commercial satellite networks.
