Toronto's Peripheral Labs lands $3.6 million to shake up sports video tech
Peripheral Labs, a Toronto startup, just raised $3.6 million in seed funding led by Khosla Ventures, with support from Daybreak Capital and others.
The fresh funds will help them boost engineering, cut hardware costs, and team up with broadcasters and sports teams.
What's their game-changing tech?
Peripheral Labs blends self-driving car sensors, robotics smarts, and AI to create super-realistic 3D replays for sports.
Fans can switch camera angles, track players in detail, or freeze plays for instant reviews.
Their system also offers biomechanical stats—like knee flexion—for coaches and slashes the number of cameras needed from over 100 to just 32.
Who's behind it?
Founded in 2024 by Kelvin Cui and Mustafa Khan, who worked on the University of Toronto's driverless car team, their small team of 10 engineers is already talking with North American leagues—and going head-to-head with other sports tech startups like Arcturus Studios.
