TRAI draft allows Jio and Airtel to price 4G, 5G
Technology
TRAI wants to let mobile operators like Jio and Airtel set different prices for 4G and 5G, so you might see premium 5G plans with faster speeds and premium-level connectivity.
The draft rules were announced on Thursday, August 6.
Network slicing, 80% speed rule, 2L/10L
TRAI's plan also brings in "network slicing," letting companies create special high-speed networks for users who need more power, without slowing down regular connections.
Operators have to be clear about their promised speeds, notify users if they drop below 80%, and solve the issue before filing compliance reports.
Companies could face ₹2,00,000 per benchmark and ₹10,00,000 for repeated non-compliance if they don't follow these rules.
