Valve's Steam Frame is a VR headset for PC gaming
Valve just announced the Steam Frame, its new standalone VR headset coming in Spring 2026.
It packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 16GB RAM, and sharp dual LCDs (2160x2160 per eye) with a wide 110° field of view through pancake lenses.
It offers access to your existing Steam library
Steam Frame is built to work smoothly with your existing Steam library—no extra sensors needed.
You get both VR and regular gaming on one device, plus refresh rates up to a speedy 144Hz (in experimental mode).
Storage comes in up to 1TB, expandable by microSD.
It weighs just 440g
At just 440g, it's lightweight thanks to inside-out tracking using six cameras—including eye tracking for better immersion.
The controllers offer precise motion tracking and haptics.
Wireless PC VR streaming over fast 6GHz tech means you can ditch the cables for potentially low-latency gameplay, depending on your setup.
Pricing isn't out yet, but Valve is aiming to take on Meta Quest 3 and other big names—so keep an eye out if you're into next-gen VR.
