A leg-spinner who has a knack for taking timely wickets, cricketer Adil Rashid plays for England. He rose to fame when he took six wickets on his first-class debut for Yorkshire in 2006. In 2007, he was named PCA Young Player of the Year for his performances in county cricket. Rashid received his first international call-up in 2009 for the ICC World T20 held that year. In the same year, he made his ODI debut against Ireland. England has always been allergic to spinners who can turn the ball. That, combined with Rashid's inconsistency in the earlier years of his international career, delayed his Test debut. He played his first Test in 2015 against Pakistan, a full six years after his debut in the shorter formats of the game. Rashid never got into his groove while playing in Tests. However, his knack for picking up wickets and valuable contributions with the bat has made him a regular in the shorter formats of the game.
