    What's the story

Tonight, South American powerhouses Brazil and Mexico would take on each other in the round of 16 clash.

It is a winner-takes-it-all fixture, with a spot in quarters as the prize.

Argentina, Portugal and Spain have already been ousted and Brazil will look to avoid similar fate.

Mexico would definitely provide a stern challenge to the five-time winners.

    Here is the pre-match report.

    Info

    Team news and selection

Brazilian left-back Marcelo is set to miss out in the starting XI after suffering from back spasms against Serbia.

However, he might be available from the bench.

Fagner could start at right-back despite Danilo being fit.

Mexico will miss key center-back Hector Moreno, who is suspended for the game after accumulating two yellow cards.

Hugo Ayala could replace him in the side.

    Brazil

Brazil need to step up their game

Brazil topped their group, but couldn't quite get the performances expected out of them.

They will need to step up their game in order to beat Mexicans, who are keen to break the round of 16 jinx.

Mexico have never scored against Brazil in a World Cup match, but this time they know a collective show can help them overpower 2002 champions.

    Views

What's the view from both camps?

Brazil coach stated that talisman Neymar has returned to a high level.

Neymar had suffered broken foot in February and coach claimed that he is now ready as he needed a few games to get back to shape.

Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio has stated that Brazil have a lot of attacking options. Further, he picked Philippe Coutinho as the best amongst all.

    Numbers

    Stat attack: Brazil vs Mexico

These two teams have locked horns, in World Cup, on four occasions and Brazil have remained unbeaten.

The last time they met it was a 0-0 affair.

A loss for Mexico would see them being knocked out of the round-of-16 for the seventh successive time in a World Cup.

This is Mexico's 57th World Cup game, but they are yet to win the tournament.

    Information

TV listing and when to watch the game

The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST. One can watch the match live on the Sony Ten Network in both English and Hindi commentary. The match can be streamed live on Sony LIV app as well.
