Kamlesh Nagarkoti to be out of action with back injury
Kamlesh Nagarkoti played a decisive role for the Indian U-19 cricket team in the World Cup, earlier this year. Touted to be one of the future stars, the pacer can bowl extremely quick and showed his prowess during the coveted tournament. However, injury hampered his 2018 IPL campaign. And now a back issue has forced him to be out of action. Here's more.
According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, Nagarkoti will be going to the United Kingdom to sort out his back issues. He is set to consult experts in England regarding the lay-off, he has had to bear because of the injury and whether he requires surgery or not for the same. This could see him be out of action for quite sometime.
As per the report, he had gone to the NCA for nursing his fractured foot and that's where he picked up a back injury. The BCCI is believed to be organizing a visa for the player, who is still undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru. He will be accompanied to London by NCA physio Yogesh Parmar.
A BCCI official has confirmed that the NCA officials are looking into the matter and also the bowler will be on his way to London for treatment. "We've decided on a plan for Kamlesh, the NCA officials are looking into it. He will go to London soon." He, last, featured for his home team Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Kamlesh has been out of action since the past six months and missed out playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2018 earlier. His pace partner Shivam Mavi excelled for KKR and got some valuable experience. Nagarkoti, too, could have come out all guns blazing, but his injury robbed him of a chance.
The youngster was picked up by KKR for a huge sum of Rs. 3.2 crore in the auction. He can consistently bowl at excess of 140 kph and is regarded worthy of a national call-up. Nagarkoti is being monitored by the BCCI and his recovery is the board's focus. He picked nine wickets in six games for U-19 side in the World Cup.
