All England Open: Sindhu wins in 3-games, progresses to quarters
PV Sindhu moved to the quarter-finals of the All England Open being held in Birmingham. The shuttler survived a notable comeback from her opponent Nitchaon Jindapol to win the tie 21-13, 13-21, 21-18. This was Sindhu's third career win against the Thailand international in four matches. She would next face the winner of the match between Nozomi Okuhara and Dian Fitriani.
Sindhu maintained the intensity throughout the first game to win 21-13. Jindapol got the early lead in the second game forcing Sindhu to make errors. Sindhu fought back hard but Jindapol kept the pressure on, to clinch the game 21-13. The third-game was a thriller with Sindhu allowing Jindapol to crawl back. At 18-18 it could have been anyone's game, but Sindhu hung on.
The All England Open is something that has eluded Indian women shuttlers. With Sindhu in the quarters, she is a few games away from a stellar victory. But it will not be easy with Okuhara and Tai Tzu-ying in the fray as potential title rivals.
