Atletico seek FIFA's help over Griezmann's fee paid by Barcelona
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid faced a setback after their prolific striker Antoine Griezmann completed his long anticipated move to rivals Barcelona. Although the move did not come as a surprise, it has certainly not gone well with Atletico. As per the reports in Spanish media, Atletico are contemplating to seek FIFA's help to challenge the amount paid by Barcelona to acquire Griezmann.
Griezmann completes €120 million move to Barcelona
Griezmann, on Friday, completed his move to Barcelona, with the club paying his €120 million buyout clause to Atletico. Griezmann is expected to pen a five-year deal with Barca, which would run until 2024. With Barca, he would have a buyout clause of €800 million.

According to Sports Daily AS, Atletico are mulling to involve FIFA in this issue as they feel that Barcelona owe more than €120 million to them. The report also states that Atletico want both Griezmann and Barcelona to be punished for this. Atletico also pointed that Barca had negotiated the deal with Griezmann before the buy-out clause dropped from €200 million, starting this July.
Atletico feel termination occurred before end of season
"Atletico believes the termination of the contract occurred before the end of last season due to events, acts and demonstrations carried out by the player and that's why it has already started procedures it considers appropriate for the defense of its rights," stated the club.
Atletico President claims they have evidence
Meanwhile, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo claimed that the club has evidence regarding the issue, stating that they would study it and demand the necessary amount. "If the club have made this statement it is because there is evidence," he said to RAC1. Cerezo also expressed his disappointment at Griezmann's attitude and blamed him for not letting the club know earlier about his departure.
Griezmann's glorious Atletico career drew Barca's attention
Notably, Griezmann has played a sensational role for Atletico. Having played 257 matches with the club, he scored 133 goals in five seasons. His best season came during 2015-16, when he clubbed 32 goals in 54 matches. He won three titles with the club, and with age on his side, he can make a tremendous impact at Barca.
