The Indian cricket team gained solid ground against Australia as they have put themselves in a comfortable position in the ongoing fourth Test at the SCG. After Cheteshwar Pujara's majestic 193, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant slammed a ton. The youngster notched his second Test career hundred in just his ninth Test match. With this century, Pant scripted several records. Here is the list.
Pant notches special feats with this ton
The 21-year-old Pant became the the first Asian wicket-keeper to score a ton in Tests in Australia. He also registered the joint-most number of centuries outside Asia among Asian keepers in Test cricket (2). With this, he equalled the likes of former Pakistan keeper Moin Khan and Bangladesh's senior player Mushfiqur Rahim. Pant helped India sail past the 500-run mark in the first innings.
Pant is the second visiting keeper to register this record
Pant had slammed a century (114) against England in the fifth Test match at the Oval in September, 2018. With that knock, Pant had become the first Indian wicket-keeper to score a Test century in England. He is now the only second visiting wicket-keeper to register centuries in both England and Australia. West Indian Jeff Dujon was the first to achieve the record.
Pant goes past Kohli for most runs in ongoing series
Pant is now the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing Test series after Pujara. The latter has amassed a total of 521 runs and Pant went past the 300-run mark in the series. He also overcame Indian skipper Virat Kohli (282). Pant also registered his best score in Test cricket. His previous highest score was 114 versus England.
Pant shares 150+ stand with Jadeja
Pant went on to share a brilliant 89-run stand with Pujara. The southpaw then rallied along with Ravindra Jadeja to add a 150+ partnership for the seventh wicket. This was the highest stand for India in this Test.
