Ben Stokes is widely known as the best all-rounder to wear the colors of Three Lions after the legendary Sir Ian Botham. A left-handed batsman and a right-handed medium pacer, Stokes is known for his explosive batting style and his knack to pick wickets at the right time. After debuting for Durham in first-class cricket in 2010, Stokes played his first international ODI match against Ireland in 2011. His Test debut was against Australia in the 2013-14 Ashes series. His performance in that series was the only salvaging stat for an English team that was whitewashed 5-0. In the 2015-16 Test series against South Africa, Stokes scored the second-fastest (and the fastest-ever for England) double-century in Test history. After being named in the 2017 Champions Trophy's Team of the Tournament, Stokes proved that he is a big-game player in the 2019 ICC World Cup, where he was named the Man of the Match in the final. Currently, the England team's vice-captain, Stokes was named the stand-in captain of England for the limited-overs series against Pakistan in 2021.
