What's the story

The BCCI confirmed today that Indian skipper Virat Kohli will not be playing County Cricket for Surrey next month. The BCCI release stated that a neck injury has ruled Kohli out of his desired move to play for Surrey. He wanted to use County to prepare for the upcoming England tour. This development is a major setback for both Virat Kohli and Team India.

Big loss

BCCI confirms Kohli's injury situation

Following assessments by the BCCI medical team, the decision has been taken that the player will miss cricket in June. He is set to undergo a rehabilitation programme under the supervision of BCCI medical team. The Indian board is confident that he will be fit ahead of the tour of England and Ireland.

Work overload

Excessive cricket is taking a toll on Kohli

In the last 12 months, Kohli has played all 9 Tests which India have played, 29 of 32 ODIs, 9 of 18 T20Is. It means he has featured in 47 of the 59 international matches played. The non-stop cricket is taking a toll on his body. Even Kohli had acknowledged this fact when he decided to skip the Nidahas Trophy.
