A powerful West Indian all-rounder from Barbados, Carlos Brathwaite announced his entry in style when he hit Ben Stokes for four consecutive sixes in the final to help West Indies win the 2016 ICC World Twenty20. He made his first-class made debut in 2011 against Trinidad and Tobago. His performance in the first season earned him a place in the West Indies squad touring Bangladesh. He made his debut in both ODI and T20I in 2011 against Bangladesh. Brathwaite made his Test debut in 2015 against Australia. In 2016, he was made the captain of the West Indies T20I team with only eight matches under his belt. He captained the team till 2019. A right-handed batsman and a medium pacer with the ball, Brathwaite's exploits in the 2016 T20 World Cup got him plenty of suitors in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After the World Cup, he was bought for 14 times his asking price by the Delhi Daredevils in the 2016 IPL auction. He last played for the Kolkata Knight Riders before being released by them before the 2020 IPL auction.
