What's the story

A sensational hundred from Daryl Mitchell powered New Zealand in the opening ODI against the West Indies at Christchurch's Hagley Oval. The middle-order, who has been among massive runs lately, played a 119-run knock as New Zealand finished at 269/7 in the allotted 50 overs. This was his seventh hundred in ODIs, and a second one at home. Here are his stats.

Knock

Solid hand from Mitchell

NZ were reeling at 24/2 when Mitchell arrived to bat. He and opener Devon Conway (49) then steadied the innings with a 67-run stand for the third wicket. The only other batter with a 25-plus score in the innings was Michael Bracewell (35), with whom Mitchell added 69 runs for the fifth wicket. The latter batted with great intent as NZ finished strongly.
