A talented left-handed batsman, English cricketer Dawid Malan is one of those players who missed their chance to make the national team time and again but when they did make it, made the best out of it. His current standing as the No.1 ranked T20I player is a testament to Malan's never-say-die attitude. He began his first-class career for Boland in South Africa but later joined Middlesex in 2006. His first-class debut for Middlesex came in 2008. Ever since then, he has been an important part of Middlesex, but his average south of 40 did not help his cause to be a part of the national team. However, his performance for England Lions in 2016, where he scored 185 runs off 126 balls, a record for England Lions, put him in the reckoning for a national ream place. Malan made his international debut in 2017 against South Africa in a T20I match. On his debut, he scored 44-ball 78. Soon after that, he made his Test debut the same year as well. His best performance in Test came against Australia when he scored a gritty century in WACA when the rest of the team floundered. He later made his ODI debut in 2019 against Ireland.
