In a career lasting more than ten years with the West Indies team, Trinidadian cricketer Denesh Ramdin went through a lot of ups and downs. Starting out as a fast bowler, Ramdin turned out to be one of the best wicketkeepers West Indies ever had. He was one of the hot prospects of West Indies cricket whether Ramdin attained those heights that were expected of him. He made his international debut in a Test against Sri Lanka in 2005. After starting his career with a half-century on debut, Ramdin went on to make one after another impressive performance. At the same time, his ability to be an effective keeper even on tracks that did not have any life in it, along with his incredible agility, made him their first-choice keeper. His dip in form and inconsistency, however, led him to be axed from the team every now and then. The spike in his form in the 2013-14 period saw him being appointed as the Test captain in 2014. However, he lost the captaincy to Jason Holder in 2015. Ramdin's lack of consistency has been his biggest downfall. He played his last international match in 2019 against India.
