Iga Swiatek wins Miami Open 2022: Records scripted
Polish youngster Iga Swiatek completed the Sunshine Double with a win over Naomi Osaka in the Miami Open final. Swiatek tamed Osaka 6-4, 6-0 in what was a complete show. Youngest to win the Sunshine Double
As per WTA, Swiatek has joined an exclusive club by becoming only the fourth woman to win the Sunshine Double - titles at WTA 1000 Indian Wells and Miami in the same season. The likes of Stefanie Graf (1994 and 1996), Kim Clijsters (2005), and Victoria Azarenka (2016), all are the others. Notably, Swiatek, 20, is the youngest woman to pull off this accomplishment.

Swiatek joins Serena and Wozniacki
As per WTA, Swiatek has now joined the Serena Williams (2013 - Miami, Madrid, Rome, Toronto) and Caroline Wozniacki (2010 - Montreal, Tokyo, Beijing) as the only players to win three-plus consecutive WTA 1000 titles in a single season. She became the first player to win 17 consecutive matches on hard courts in a single calendar year since Williams won 20 in 2015.
Swiatek has a 26-3 win-loss record this year
Swiatek started the season with a semi-final exit against Ashleigh Barty at the Adelaide International. She suffered another semis defeat against Danielle Collins at the 2022 Australian Open. In Dubai, she suffered a second-round exit. She won the Qatar Open, followed by Indian Wells, and Miami. Interestingly, Swiatek has a 26-3 win-loss record in 2022.
