In the second ODI match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, India posted a mammoth total of 402 runs against Afghanistan. The innings was led by captain Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who both scored brilliant centuries. Gill scored a stunning 154 off just 110 balls while Kishan contributed with an explosive knock of 125. In response, the Indian bowlers completed the job as the target was too much for visitors Afghanistan, who managed 232/10.

India lose Rohit Sharma for 48 inside 1st powerplay

After being asked to bat first by visitors Afghanistan, India started slowly as Afghanistan surprised everyone by opening with off-spinner AM Ghazanfar. Yashasvi Jaiswal struggled to get going and was dismissed early, leaving Rohit Sharma and Gill at 80/1 inside the first powerplay. Rohit started brilliantly but was dismissed at 48, just a couple of runs shy of a well-deserved half-century.

Gill and Kishan then launched a stunning counterattack, taking the game completely away from Afghanistan. Gill brought up his ninth ODI hundred off just 76 balls while Kishan shifted gears dramatically after a measured 50. Their third-wicket stand swelled to 224 runs off only 141 balls at a run rate of 9.60, becoming one of India's fastest double-century stands in ODIs.

India collapse after set duo perishes

Kishan was finally dismissed for a brilliant 125 off 79 balls when Nangeyalia Kharoti induced a mis-timed pull to deep midwicket. Gill, however, continued his assault and reached his 150 in just 108 deliveries before getting out at 154 from 110 balls. His innings was laced with as many as 22 fours and two sixes. India were 360/4 when Gill perished. Only 42 runs were added thereafter for the loss of 6 wickets.
