India vs West Indies, 1st ODI: Preview, Dream11 and more

India and West Indies gear up for the first ODI to be held on December 15 in Chennai. This is the second series between the two teams post the ICC World Cup 2019. After a 2-1 series victory in the T20Is, India will be aiming to continue in the same vein and start on a strong note. Here's the complete match preview.

Venue, timing, TV listing and pitch report

The match is set to be held at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. The match is set to start at 1:30 PM IST. One can watch the game live on the Star Sports Network and stream the same on Hotstar. The pitch is expected to be a slow turner. Spinners have prospered here, while batsmen have found it difficult to score runs.

Dream11: Kohli and Pollard get the leadership nods

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul get the chance to open the innings in this Dream11 side. Virat Kohli gets the captaincy nod and comes in next. Shai Hope is the wicket-keeper batsman. He is followed by Brandon King and Shimron Hetmyer. Kieron Pollard (vice-captain) and Ravindra Jadeja are the two all-rounders. Sheldon Cottrell, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav are the three main bowlers.

Head-to-head records between the two teams

The two teams have faced each other 128 times. West Indies are narrowly ahead, winning 50.31% of the games. Out of these matches, India have won 61 and WI have pocketed 62. Meanwhile, two games have been tied and three matches didn't have any result.

Team India looking up to top three for crucial runs

India will be looking to go in with an experienced line-up. One expects to see three spinners feature for Team India. A lot of focus will be on number four batsman Shreyas Iyer. Veteran Kedar Jadhav could come in at number six. The top order is India's strength. The likes of Rohit, Rahul and Kohli hold the cards for the team.

West Indies will hope to put up a fight

West Indies put up a strong show in the T20Is and the team under Pollard will be wanting to put up a fight against favorites India. The visitors are a work in progress and one expects a solid approach. Shai Hope returns to the side and the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Hetmyer will need to support the team in that middle order.
